SVG Cutting Files Challenges

I made this sweet little puppy for the SVG Cutting Files challenge "Boys and their Toys".  What boy wouldn't love to have these cutie as his plaything?

I used Echo Park's This and That Charming collection.  Love this collection!  Even though I don't have a son, I down to just scraps from this kit.

LOAD Day2

It's October 2 and I'm already behind.  Drat!  I am participating in a layout a day challenge over at the Scraphappy blog and I missed day 1.  Oh well!  Here is my Day 2 layout.

I used the last of a kit from Crate Paper and the title is from the Silhouette store.  I found the butterflies in my stash, not sure if they would be called burlap or linen.  So I distressed them and added a few rhinestones.

This type of layout is a little different for me.  I am normally an event scrapper.  But I stumbled across this picture and just fell in love with this little sweetie all over again.  She's 15 now and way too busy for her mom.

Pumpkin Spice Challenge #15

The challenge at the Pumpkin Spice blog this week is "Taxes" - money, debt... anything that makes you think of taxes.  My brother is in the Air Force and is about to be deployed again and since our taxes pay for the military, I thought I would make him a card.

I used a file from Miss Kate's Cuttables and my Silhouette machine.

Thanks for looking,

Darlene

Creative Cutting Challenge #14

Creative Cutting challenged us to make Mother's Day cards this week for challenge #14.  I decided to make ten!  I used a file from the Silhouette store.  The card turned out so cute that I couldn't stop making them.  Here are 3 of them.

Thanks for looking,

Darlene

Lasting Memories Challenge #135

The challenge at Lasting Memories this week was to "use your stash".  I found a layout I attempted to start last year of when my daughter went to the parish fair and held a few animals.

Thanks for looking.

My Time to Craft Challenge #217

The challenge over at My Time to Craft this week was "In the Sky".  So I created a simple kite card using my Imagine and a stamp set from MCT called Fly Away with Me.

Yea!  It's Friday!  Enjoy your weekend.

Furry Friends

Wow!  I'm on a roll!  I discovered another challenge blog called Scrapping Everyday Miracles.  The theme was All God's Creatures.  I always have pictures of my kitty lying around, so I decided to do her.  They have an added twist that you have to use a quote or verse too.

Isn't she sweet?!  She was a rescue kitty that we adopted when she was 4 weeks old.  I had to bottle feed her for a few weeks.

Thanks for looking

Creative Cutting Challenge #13

I discovered a new challenge blog a few weeks ago and have been meaning to participate.  The challenge ends shortly, so I made a quick card using my Silhouette.  The file is from the Sil. store and is a Lori Whitlock design.

Sorry about the colors.  It's late and I didn't have any natural lighting.

My 3 Favorite layouts of 2012

Today I took some time and looked through all of my albums.  My oh my has my style changed over the years!   From basic cut and pasting of pictures to die cuts and embellishments.  Here are my favorite three right of 2012. Unfortunately I don't remember all the paper lines or cuts used.

Baby Cakes - This was Bailey's 1st birthday cake.  I used an Echo Park mini kit for all the paper and my Cricut for the embellishments.  I love the bright pops of color against the white.

I love this one.  It is from our first trip to Disney.  I love that it doesn't scream Disney.  Yes it screams with that bright yellow, but it is another side of Disney without all the characters.

The embellishments were just a mixture of things from my stash - some generic Disney flair, ric rac, bling and mickey heads.  Simple.

This is a very recent layout - last Fall.  My daughter just started high school and decided to join the swim team.  She loved it so much, she is now on the year round team.  I used my Cameo to cut the title and the lane ropes with files from the Silhouette store.  The other embellishments are from my stash that I have probably had for years.

These are some of the first pictures I took with my new camera.  It has a sports mode that lets me take 5 shots in a row.  Awesome.  It was so cool to review the pictures with my daughter and let her see the progression of her dive.

Just a few simple embellishments and the page is done.  The twine in the lane ropes makes it look so realistic!

Well I hope you have enjoyed a look at my favorite layouts of 2012.  Thanks for looking.

New Challenge Blog coming soon

WooHoo!  I was excited to hear about a new challenge blog for scrapbooking.  It is called Scrap Your Story and will begin on March 1st.  The challenges will be weekly with a top 3 posted.  At the end of the month, a random winner will be drawn for a prize.    Awesome!
I really haven't been making cards lately.  I have been on a layout roll trying to get caught up on my daughters' lives.  So this will definitely be a challenge blog that I participate in.  Go check them out...

Love You...

Challenge # 9 at 3 Girl JAM is Anything Goes for the New Year and must use ribbon.  I decided to make a cute little bag for my hubby for Valentine's Day.  I didn't do anything extraordinary with the ribbon - just used it for the handle, but that counts.  I put a little glossy accents on the lips for a realistic kiss!  so cute

Use It Tuesday Challenge #46

For challenge #46 over at Use It Tuesday, the theme is 2013 and use your stash.  So I dug deep into my old paper and found this firework paper for July 4th.  And deep into my ribbon stash for this silver ribbon that I had gotten to make bows with.  I used a cut from Cricut Celebrate with Flourish and viola - a new year's card, or 3!

Easy, peasy.

RRR Challenge #63

This is my entry for Really Reasonable Ribbon's challenge.  It is called My New Toys and Ribbon.  Well, the only new scrappy toys (gasp!) I got for Christmas was a set of Lowercase Fun Dies from My Creative Time.  I love these.  The paper and rubon  is DCWV Animal Safari from eons ago.  The cute little pop pom ribbon is from my stash.  I like to have a stash of baby cards at the preschool for the new little siblings that are always popping up.

Happy New Year!

Wow!  It has been forever since I posted.  It's not that I haven't been in my craftroom, I just haven't been taking pictures and blogging.  Over the Thanksgiving break I made 50 little treat bags for all the teachers at my preschool.  I filled them with the little hand sanitizers from Bath and Body.  I also made about 50 Christmas cards for our family and friends, but didn't take a picture of one!

In December I joined the Feline Playful blog.  A group of dedicated ladies update and post the challenges and winners everyday of a huge list of blogs.  Go check it out.  You can find me there doing the Thursday Winners post.

2012 was a pretty normal year for our family.  The girls are in 9th and 5th grades and doing well.  But in November, it went downhill.  DH was laid off.  Right before Christmas is not when you want to be looking for a job.  Absolutely no one is hiring or even in the office to talk to.  So fingers crossed that things will start moving for him in his job search.  What I hate the most is the uncertainty.  Will we have to move to another state and start over in our schools and church?  Will we find a job here, but for much less and have to downsize?  Will the job search take too long and we deplete our savings?  Ugh!  This is what keeps me up at night.

So, I have decided that I need to get my craft on and keep my mind off of what I can't control.  In 2013, I will enter challenges again.  I will try out for a design team.  I will participate in a blog hop.  I will scrapbook and blog about it.  I will get my craft on!
